A Retirement Party

Dave Neilsen, former Kananaskis Country director, picked me up this afternoon and we drove to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park for a retirement party in honour of Jim Stomp who worked in Alberta Parks for 37 years and Manitoba Parks for 7 years before that. It was great to see many familiar faces and chat with Jim, wishing him well in his retirement, and others. Jim’s daughter Willa worked for me for ten years in the Kananaskis information centres before graduating as a RCMP.

DSC00158I arrived home to find a gift in between my front doors of a bottle of homemade soup, a small tray of homemade granola bars and a dark chocolate bar that said “Take a Hike.” I have no idea who the angel was who left these lovely gifts – but thank you so much. They are very much appreciated.

P.S. It turned out they were not granola bars, but chocolate squares. I should have guessed they were from Judith – my professional baker friend. The soup is awesome as well as the squares. I’m now waiting to be able to take a hike with the chocolate bar.
