A beautiful sunny day greeted the Heart Mountain Go-Getters (Exshaw seniors) on a picnic with a hike in Bow Valley Provincial Park. We had our BYOLunch picnic at Whitefish day use by the Bow River – accompanied by lots of laughs – and then hiked up to Many Springs Trail and did the 1.6 km walk around the trail. Fortunately, the trail crew had removed some of the beavers’ branches from their dams so more water could escape from the pond, thus the board walk was no longer under water. While everyone else went back to the vehicles I spent a couple more hours and hiked Elk Flats Trail > Moraine Trail > Bow River Trail loop back to my van. This blue clematis was just asking to be photographed as they are a very difficult flower to photograph. There were lots of crocuses and blue violets out, plus I saw six shooting stars.
