1907 St. Bernard’s Catholic Church

Thursday this week was a very exciting day because the labours of the Exshaw Heritage Society, led by our ever diligent Lynda G., finally saw this historical church in Exshaw move from its original site to a temporary spot four kilometres away. Now we can work on finding a permanent home for this great treasure.

There are not many historical places in this little hamlet of less than 400 people, so this is a significant event. The church is no longer a working church and what its future will be we have yet to decide. We, of course, are hoping to find people and businesses willing to contribute to its restoration.

These photos show the church being towed along Highway 1A on Thursday, the snowy day.
