It was another day for two intrepid females to snowshoe in powder snow. This week it was Dawna and myself on Elk Pass Snowshoe Trail. Amazing powder snow and some tracks to follow for part of the way. When the tracks continued up the open powerline we broke trail on the proper snowshoe trail. My plan was to stop at the Elk Pass/Hydroline trails junction, but we were doing so well we went up the steep hill on Hydroline Trail and hoped to find warm sun for lunch. Once we arrived we discovered a cool breeze and the sun became hazy, so we retired to a shady sheltered spot.
It was a quiet day in this lovely area and we only saw about 4 or 5 people x-c skiing and no one snowshoeing. We did meet Tracy and Bob, who work at the Kananaskis Country Golf Course, in the parking lot on our return. It seems no decision has been made yet about the future of the golf course since last June’s flood. Sigh…..
After dropping off some jigsaw puzzles at William Watson Lodge and having a short chat with Ross Watson, the manager, we ended our time together with the beautiful drive up the Kananaskis Valley; something I never get tired of seeing.
Dawna was Queen for the Day this week, so got in a couple of my photos. You gotta love her hat!
